Ohio Power Co and your EV charger
Ohio Power Co offers 1 electric vehicle (EV) program in Ohio that we have verified against its own published terms, listed below with the funding status and the date we checked. It does not set a flat dollar amount — the published terms give a rate or a conditional maximum instead — so we show no figure rather than invent one.

| Program | Type | Who qualifies | Amount | Status | Checked | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Verified programs
- AEP Ohio residential customer enrolled in AEP Ohio's Standard Service Offer (SSO)
- Must have an AMI (smart) meter
- Plug-in electric or hybrid vehicle charged at home
- Enrollment takes up to two billing periods to take effect
- Separately Metered option requires a licensed electrician to install a deductive meter base at the customer's expense
Conditions are quoted from each program’s own published terms as we read them on the date shown. Meeting them is what makes an application eligible; it is not an approval, and a utility can apply requirements it does not publish.
What the federal listing says
The Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center records no incentives currently offered by Ohio Power Co for EV charging infrastructure. We checked that listing on 2026-08-25.
Utilities do add programs, and the listing is not exhaustive. If Ohio Power Co has launched something since, we want to know — but we will not list an amount before reading their own terms.
Where the federal credit went
There is no federal EV charger tax credit for equipment placed in service after June 30, 2026. Section 30C was terminated by section 70504 of Public Law 119-21. Any quote or article that nets a federal credit against your cost today is out of date — which is most of them.
